About

Hi there, I'm Jessica Wood - the "j wood" in j wood photography.

I'm a daughter, sister, pianist, slight Grammar Nazi, horrible speller, animal lover, crossword puzzle enthusiast, Reality TV junkie, great Robot-er, and self-proclaimed "crazy-old-cat-lady-in-training".

I've had a camera glued to my eye socket for the past five years and I blame it on my dad.  He lent me his film camera, a Pentax (which I eventually broke a button off and it became less useful -oops!).  From there I obtained a Nikon N60, a film camera.  For a graduation gift from my parents, I recieved a Nikon D60 - my first digital camera.  I haven't stopped shooting since.  In 2008, I bought myself my baby, Nikon D70.

I have a very "artistic" point of view with photography.  I use a lot of different angles and love, love, love using natural light.  I use the "rule of thirds" a lot with my photography.  I have become aware of composition in the past few years.  I usually take a ton of pictures.  My record, so far, is 1200 in a 2 1/2 hour span.

As you can see, I talk a lot, too.

A little about the business...  j wood photography started in 2009.  I've been uploading my pictures for family and friends to see on Facebook and on deviantart.com.  I had a few suggestions that I should get a "real" website and start my own thing.

Here I am.

The big difference between myself and other studios is the prices.  I'm free.  Yes, you've read that right - free.  Why free?  I am fairly new to the business aspect and I want to be able to learn more.  By booking a session with me, you are helping me gain knowledge and experience in the business field.

Think of it as though I am interning with myself.

The only thing it'll cost you is the price the CD.

With sessions, currently, they are on-location only.  We can stay as long as you would like and even switch to a new location or two.

This is my passion... Next to chowing down on some Mexican food.
