About
Hi there, I'm Jessica Wood - the "j-wood" in j-wood photography.
By day, I am an office assistant. By evening, a piano teacher. By weekend, a photographer!
I'm a daughter, sister, pianist, slight Grammar Nazi, horrible speller, animal lover, crossword puzzle enthusiast, Reality TV junkie, great Robot-er, and self-proclaimed "crazy-old-cat-lady-in-training".
I've had a camera glued to my eye socket for the past five years and I blame it on my dad. He lent me his film camera, a Pentax (which I eventually broke a button off and it became less useful). From there I obtained a Nikon N70, a film camera. For a graduation gift from my parents, I recieved a Nikon D70 - my first digital camera. I haven't stopped shooting since. In 2008, I bought myself my baby, Nikon D60.
I have a very artistic and photojounralistic point of view with photography. I use a lot of different angles and love, love, love using natural light. I usually take a ton of pictures. My record, so far, is 1200 in a 2 1/2 hour span.
As you can see, I talk a lot, too.
Photographed by Jim UlrichA little about the business... j-wood photography started in 2009. I've been uploading my pictures for family and friends to see on Facebook and on deviantart.com. I had a few suggestions that I should get a "real" website and start my own thing.
Here I am.
People ask why I don't do prints. It comes down to the fact that everyone wants something different. Not everyone wants ten 4x6s or fifteen-billion 8x10s.
Also, I figure with today's new and improved technology (aka the internet), it is much easier to give you a CD so you can print, post, and e-mail all you want.
With sessions, currently, they are on-location only. We can stay as long as you would like and even switch to a new location or two.
This is my passion... next to chowing down on some Mexican food and watching a good action movie.
